Welcome To My World
Hey Gamma Heads,
I’m AJ Malacarne. You may know me from my comics work (Psychedelic and Tales From Exit 56), one of the articles I have written, or we met through social media! If you have no idea who I am, that is ok, too! I have been working in the creative field for the past five years and am launching my next endeavor. So let me introduce myself by going back to the beginning.
There was darkness. Than a big bang! Ok, maybe I went too far back. Back in the depths of 2020, I was figuring life out. I had graduated from high school, was in community college, and had no idea what I was doing. I thought about getting into investing because that seemed to be a surefire way to make money. The social media algorithm was sure convincing.
But then I had an opportunity. I was given the assignment of interviewing someone in my career field. So I took a shot in the dark and interviewed two writers, David Pepose and Lonnie Nadler. The two of them provided great advice, but most importantly, gave me the spark to create.
It never left. I created my first podcast with my then-girlfriend, where we interviewed writers, artists, and social media creators. I learned about the creative process of so many different individuals. And then I created my first comic, Psychedelic, about a hero dealing with addiction versus responsibility. After that, I started studying at The Savannah College of Art and Design in Dramatic Writing.

I had long thought writing for TV was my main career goal. That was until I took a multimedia writing class where multiple alumni came to speak. One was Emma Oliver. She introduced me to the realm of writing for immersive and themed entertainment. I had been a theme park junkie for as long as I could remember, but had never considered writing for them. I wrote my first experience in that class.
That stuck with me as I graduated in 2024 and went to work at Disney World in the College Program. I learned so much about storytelling in reality, even as a custodian. That was truly the best year of my life. Now I live outside of Boston (But I’m coming back to Orlando eventually), having learned virtually from creators like Michael Wilson, Chaz Moneypenny, Nicolette Tucker, and more!
